State Labor Mum on Robbins Island Wind Farm Plan

The Tasmanian opposition say they stand for the industries underpinning the State’s economy, but their thoughts on their Federal Colleague turning their back on Tassie are yet to be heard.

Minister for Energy and Renewables, Nick Duigan, said it’s been more than 48 hours since Federal Labor Environment Minister Tanya Plibersek abandoned Tasmania’s energy future by delaying her decision on Robbins Island Wind Farm, for the fifth time.

“The Labor opposition say they fully support the renewable energy industry, but their silence since this announcement has been deafening,” Minister Duigan said.

“The Tasmanian Government is a strong supporter of this vital energy project, which is in stark contrast to the Greens. But no one knows if Labor has been standing up for Tasmanians on Robbins Island Wind Farm.

“Has the Tasmanian Labor Leader picked up the phone and expressed his disappointment?

“The Labor opposition say they support Tasmania. But we’re yet to see it.”

“We know Minister Plibersek is delaying this decision until after the election to make it someone else’s problem, but while she is playing politics, it’s at the expense of Tasmanian jobs.

“The Tasmanian opposition needs to explain why their colleagues are so determined to stall Tasmania’s progress.”

In stark contrast, the Tasmanian Liberal Government is backing our productive industries and slashing red tape for major renewable energy projects under our 2030 Strong Plan for Tasmania’s Future.
