The government’s Extractive Resources Joint Ministerial Statement aims to remove barriers for establishing new quarries and strengthen planning policies.
Improving government processes linked to quarry assessments will help Resources Victoria to meet industry expectations. Stronger planning policies mean undeveloped rock, sand and gravel can be secured early, and this helps communities to better understand where quarries may be located.
Delivering the statement’s objectives will involve ongoing discussions with the quarry industry, Traditional Owners, local communities and all tiers of government.
