Suicide Prevention Grant Winners Announced
The Finocchiaro CLP Government has awarded $258,000 to 28 projects across the Territory under the 2025-26 Northern Territory Suicide Prevention Community Grants.
The grants, ranging from $500 to $10,000, empower non-government organisations and community members to deliver vital, locally driven suicide prevention projects across the Territory.
Minister for Mental Health Steve Edgington today congratulated the successful initiatives, which raise awareness and provide support to Territorians doing it tough
“The Suicide Prevention Community Grants are a vital investment in the wellbeing and strength of communities across the Territory, and we are proud to support these 28 locally led programs.
“Every Territorian deserves access to the best mental health and suicide prevention support. These projects provide innovative, practical opportunities to make a real impact.
“That’s why, in our year of action, certainty and security, we are committed to empowering communities to foster connection and deliver meaningful change – because suicide prevention starts with strong and resilient communities and support close to home.”
Projects across all five NT Health regions -Top End, Big Rivers, East Arnhem, Barkly and Central Australia – will receive funding. This includes the Darwin Dragons Rugby Union Club, who will host a Suicide Prevention Week and Family Day for the community.

Deadly Hair Dude, delivering suicide prevention yarning sessions in AmpilatwatjaLife Education NT, providing social and emotional wellbeing education in Tennant CreekArnhem Land Progress Aboriginal Corporation, running a resilience first aid program in GaliwinkuChildbirth Education Association, establishing a perinatal mental health peer support group in Alice SpringsJawoyn Association Aboriginal Corporation, hosting a men’s healing and suicide prevention camp in Katherine
“Suicide affects individuals, whole families and entire communities, and the NT’s suicide statistics are sadly the highest in Australia,” said Mr Edgington.
“This is why culturally informed and community-led approaches are critical to prevention and essential to enabling more people to access the help they need no matter where they live in the Territory.”
Now in its eighth year, the NT Suicide Prevention Community Grants has funded more than $1.9 million, supporting over 239 community projects focused on suicide awareness.
The Northern Territory Primary Health Network (NT PHN) contributed $100,000 to the total funding pool for 2025-2026.
