Supporting Mental Health For Victorian Workers
The Allan Labor Government is supporting workers’ mental health to keep them safe and healthy at work.
Deputy Premier and Minister for WorkSafe Ben Carroll announced this week that applications are now open for WorkSafe’s WorkWell Mental Health Industry Trials, which offer up to $1.76 million over three years to trial interventions to reduce workplace mental health harm and promote psychological health and safety.
Successful applicants will lead a group of partners to co-design and implement workplace trials aimed at preventing mental injury and keeping at-risk workers safe through changes in systems of work and workplace cultures.
The trials will focus on workplaces in industries known to experience higher rates of mental injuries including construction, education and training, healthcare and social assistance, manufacturing, public administration and public safety and regulatory services.
In 2024, WorkSafe accepted more than 3,100 claims from workers who experienced a work-related mental injury.
WorkSafe’s WorkWell program has engaged with more than 16,000 workplaces since its 2017 launch, providing support and guidance to reduce work-related risks to mental health through grants, learning networks and resources.
The WorkWell Survey assists employers to better understand the psychological health and safety of their workplace, while the WorkWell Toolkit provides step-by-step advice to address mental health challenges, tailored to individual workplaces.
Applications for the industry trials can be submitted online until 10:00am Tuesday 24 June. Funding exclusions and eligibility criteria apply.
