TasInsure Delivers For All Tasmanians

TasInsure Delivers For All Tasmanians

The Tasmanian Liberals will introduce legislation to establish TasInsure within the first 100 days to enable TasInsure to be set up and in operation during 2026.

Minister Felix Ellis said today that only the Liberal Party is offering Tasmanians real cost-of-living relief.

“We’ve seen an overwhelming amount of community support for TasInsure and the cheaper insurance it will offer all Tasmanians,” said Minister Ellis.

“We won’t allow Labor’s political games to stand in the way of real cost of living relief.

“Dean Winter is being led by the nose by Paul Lennon, who has been running strategy and fundraisers for Mr Winter.

“While they continue to play political games, we want to get on with the job of delivering cheaper and fairer insurance.”

The TCCI endorsed TasInsure, saying:

“The Tasmanian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (TCCI) has welcomed today’s announcement by the Tasmanian Liberals to tackle the cost of insurance.

“Insurance premiums have increased significantly in recent years, and that’s having a direct impact on Tasmanian businesses as well as the broader community.”

The THA endorsed TasInsure, saying:

“The Tasmanian Hospitality Association strongly endorses today’s announcement of TasInsure – a state-backed insurer designed to provide fair and affordable coverage for local businesses.

“This is a major win for Tasmania’s hospitality industry. Insurance has become one of the biggest pain points for venues – with premiums rising by more than 35 per cent in just two years, it’s not just unfair, it’s unaffordable.”

TasFarmers endorsed TasInsure, saying:

“Today’s announcement, which will see small business insurance costs reduce by 20% is a major win for the state’s primary producers.

“A successfully implemented policy will support the sustainability of the agriculture industry’s future.”

The Small Business Council endorsed TasInsure, saying:

“Today’s announcement by the Premier, Jeremy Rockliff, that a re-elected Liberal Government would broaden the remit of the MAIB and create a new Tasmanian Government-owned insurance company called TasInsure would make a material difference in supporting the Tasmanian small business sector.”

“The TSBC appreciates that the Premier has listened to the myriad comments made to him by the TSBC that a barrier to more activity in the small business space is insurance costs. A more affordable insurance option, owned by Tasmanians, should make more families and small business people take less risks with their property by ensuring that they are insured and for the right price.”

The TICT endorsed TasInsurer, saying:

“It can help level the playing field and restore fairness to the system, it will be strongly welcomed by our industry.

“Tourism operators have shown incredible resilience through the past few years, but rising costs and insurance barriers are becoming unsustainable. These businesses deserve access to affordable and fair insurance just like any other sector.”

Only the Tasmanian Liberals have a plan to deal with ever-rising insurance premiums.

Why does Mr Winter oppose cheaper insurance?

Why does Mr Winter want to stop it?

These are the political games Tasmanians are sick of.

First, Mr Winter forces an election Tasmanians didn’t want, now he wants to stand in the way of significant cost-of-living relief.

Know this: a re-elected Liberal government will ensure Labor does not succeed in its attempt to block Tasinsure.

Because it’s cheaper, it’s fairer, and it’s ours.
