Tasmanian Aerospace Experts Soar at Avalon Airshow 2025
Six leading Tasmanian organisations will showcase their world-class aerospace and defence capabilities at the largest airshow and aerospace defence exposition in the Southern Hemisphere.
The Avalon Australian International Airshow at Geelong’s Avalon Airport marks the first time Tasmania has been officially represented at the prestigious event.
The Defence Tasmania exhibit will feature: CBG Systems, Currawong Engineering, Jayben Group, Made By Ignite, Taz Drone Solutions and the University of Tasmania – Space Capabilities.
Premier and Minister for Trade and Major Investment, Jeremy Rockliff, said Tasmania’s presence at the 2025 airshow is a key opportunity to highlight the state’s aviation, aerospace, and defence expertise on a global stage.
“Avalon Airshow 2025 is a gateway for Tasmanian businesses to connect with top decision-makers in the global aviation, aerospace, and defence industries,” Premier Rockliff said.
“Tasmania’s advanced manufacturers are showcasing their cutting-edge equipment, technology, and services to senior government, military, and industry representatives from Australia and around the world.
“By demonstrating Tasmania’s advanced capabilities, we are opening the door to high-value supply contracts and reinforcing our state’s reputation as a leader in innovation and manufacturing.”
Premier Rockliff highlighted Tasmania’s growing success in the defence sector, with local companies securing more than 280 defence contracts in the past five years—collectively valued at more than $350 million.
“From uncrewed aerial vehicle engines to cutting-edge training solutions, the Tasmanian industry is already at the forefront of addressing emerging aerospace and defence challenges,” he said.
“Following the success of previous defence industry events such as Land Forces and Indo Pacific, we are proud to support Tasmanian industry at the Avalon Airshow for the first time in 2025.
“Our presence at this event underscores Tasmania’s innovation in this space, and we’re excited to showcase our state’s expertise to a global audience.”
As part of our 2030 Strong Plan for Tasmania’s Future, we are supporting the growth the State’s footprint in aerospace and defence to back in local jobs and keep our economy strong.
