Tasmanian Economy Thrives Under Liberal Leadership
Tasmania has the fastest economic growth in the country, the strongest wage growth and is leading the nation on equipment spending, according to the April 2025 CommSec State of the States Report.
Treasurer, Guy Barnett, said the latest CommSec report shows the Tasmanian Government’s 2030 Strong Plan for Tasmania’s Future is keeping our economy strong and resilient in the face of national headwinds.
“Tasmania is leading the nation in business confidence, and this report showing our State having the strongest equipment investment in the country reaffirms that,” Treasurer Barnett said.
“Tasmania recorded the fastest economic growth in the country, up 3.8 per cent over the year, compared to a national average of 1.2 per cent, the report said.
“The strength of our labour market has also been highlighted, with unemployment in Tasmania 28.8 per cent below our decade average level.
“Our long-term plan is delivering growth in our economy and ensuring Tasmania thrives, with more than 47,000 jobs created under our Liberal Government.
“There is confidence in the Tasmanian economy.
“This report demonstrates that Tasmanian businesses are continuing to invest, and Tasmanian consumers continue to spend despite the tough economic conditions nationally.
“As part of our 2030 Strong Plan for Tasmania’s Future, we will continue to back business, build a strong economy and create jobs for Tasmanians.”
