Michael Ferguson and the Liberals broken promise is going to mean MORE job losses for Tasmania.
The Gutwein Government’s decision to rip up a contract to build the two new Spirit of Tasmania vessels and delay their delivery until 2028 will rip at least $2.5 billion out of the Tasmanian economy.
Labor has always wanted to maximise local jobs and content in the build of new Spirit of Tasmania vessels but Peter Gutwein and Michael Ferguson have proven to be completely incapable of delivering major infrastructure projects and the replacement of the Spirit of Tasmania ships is their biggest failure yet.
Tasmania is in the middle of a jobs crisis, with unemployment above 8 per cent, and this government’s broken promise to deliver new ships by 2021 will cost jobs in some of our most important industries.
Peter Gutwein’s decision to delay the delivery of new vessels will devastate north west communities and business. He’s willing to cripple our crucial tourism industry and growth in our export markets, against the clear advice of the TT-Line Board.
It’s crystal clear that Peter Gutwein’s decision will cost jobs and hurt the economy. You just can’t trust the Liberals.
