Territorians Unite To Honour ANZAC Spirit

Today, Territorians across the Northern Territory pause to honour the legacy of the ANZACs – the men and women who served, sacrificed, and shaped the freedoms we hold dear.

Chief Minister Lia Finocchiaro joined veterans, serving personnel, families, and community members at the Darwin Cenotaph for the ANZAC Day dawn service, paying tribute to the courage and character of all who have served and continue to serve in Australia’s defence forces.

“ANZAC Day is a solemn day in the heart of every Australian,” said Chief Minister Finocchiaro.

“It reminds us of the price of peace and the enduring strength of the Australian spirit. We remember not only those who gave their lives, but all who have served and continue to serve with honour.

“From the shores of Gallipoli to modern deployments across the globe, the ANZAC legacy lives on in every veteran, every service member, and every proud Australian.”

Minister for Veterans’ Affairs Jinson Charls also today honours the bravery, service and sacrifice of our ANZACs, and all veterans who followed in their footsteps.

“We also acknowledge the families who carry the burden of service with quiet strength, and the local communities who support our veterans every day.

“As the Territory’s Minister for Veterans, I am committed to ensuring our veterans get the recognition, respect, and support they deserve – not just on ANZAC Day, but every day.”

“On behalf of a grateful Territory, we say thank you. Lest we forget,” Chief Minister Finocchiaro said.
