Earlier today, Australia placed sanctions on two Israeli Cabinet Ministers, Itamar Ben-Gvir and Bezalel Smotrich, for inciting violence against Palestinians in the West Bank.
This is a step in the right direction. But as many are right to point out – it’s far too little, far too late.
These sanctions do not even respond to the ongoing genocide in Gaza, where Israel has killed well over 54,000 Palestinians.
Millions of people around the world have come together to force their governments to take action. Now is the time to do more.
If the Australian Government is serious about justice for Palestine – it must sanction Prime Minister Netanyahu and his entire cabinet, sanction the Israeli war industry, and end the two-way weapons trade for good.
