Grassroots First Nations groups have organised actions across the country to mourn the death of Kumanjayi White, a young disabled Warlpiri man from Yuendumu, after police ‘restrained’ him at an Alice Springs supermarket.
Our hearts goes out to his mob and all community members who are grieving yet another death in custody.
Where is the justice?
11 deaths in custody this year. More than 590 since the Royal Commission was handed down. And yet, still no commitment from any government to fully implement the recommendations.
We must address the systemic racism that underpins the over-incarceration rates for First Nations people. We must join in solidarity with First Nations people to demand action ⬇️
