International Non-Binary People’s Day was first celebrated on July 14 in 2012. While this official day may be relatively new, gender diverse people have a rich history, having been present and recognised in cultures around the world for millennia. To all the gender non-conforming folk in Australia and beyond, today we celebrate you and your authenticity, and acknowledge the ongoing work still to be done towards broader societal acceptance of gender diversity.
