Violet Coco was sentence to 15 months in jail under NSW’s new draconian anti-protest laws.
NSW Premier Dominic Perrottet said it’s “pleasing to see” and that protesters were putting our “way of life at risk”.
Protesters aren’t threatening our way of life, Dom. Catastrophic runaway climate change is. And it’s fuelled by the massive coal & gas projects championed by both Perrottet’s NSW Government and the Federal Labor Government.
Protest is a fundamental democratic right, and this sentencing is disproportionate response that’s been rightly condemned by human rights advocates and UN officials.
If Dom wants to see less protests his Government should take more action.
Solidarity with Violet all the activists around the country putting their freedom on the line to fight the climate crisis with everything they’ve got.
You shouldn’t have to do this. We honour your bravery.
