More than 600 children are locked up in Banksia Hill every year, many of them are First Nations and have severe neurological impairments.
The conditions and treatment they’re subjected to has been described as “barbaric”, “cruel” and a form “of child abuse”.
The Office of the Childrens Commissioner has received more than 400 complaints in the past year alone. This is a national shame.
We must end these breaches of children’s human rights.
