Prevention must be prioritised to stop women being killed by men’s violence.
Stopping all forms of violence against women takes systemic action to tackle root causes and transform harmful social norms, but it also requires adequate funding of the services and organisations that do the hard work to support and protect women and children on the frontlines of this epidemic.
If we want to prevent family, domestic and sexual violence in our communities, we can’t keep ignoring the impact of financial insecurity and housing stress on women’s capacity to leave. We can’t keep turning a blind eye to disrespectful behaviour. We can’t keep underfunding the services women reach out to in a crisis.
