The Australian Greens

The Great Barrier Reef has suffered the largest decline in coral cover since monitoring began, in a mass bleaching event caused by climate change-induced heat stress.

Sea temps keep getting warmer because of successive governments’ failure to cut emissions.

The Greens are calling on Labor to follow the science – set 2035 targets at net-zero, stop new coal & gas – or risk losing our Reef, its immense biodiversity and the 60,000 jobs it sustains.

Anything below net zero means more than 2° of warming, in breach of the Paris Agreement.
