🚨WE ONLY HAVE A FEW DAYS! WE CAN ANDMUST STOP WOODSIDE! This is Woodside’s Karratha gas plant, also known as the North West Shelf, on the Burrup peninsula in north-west WA. The fossil fuel giant processes millions of tons of dirty gas here every year, shipping the majority of it overseas. Federal environment minister Murray Watt is making a decision THIS WEEK on whether Woodside is allowed to keep this plant producing gas until 2070. This extension, and the new gas field connected to it, would create the most polluting new fossil fuel project in the southern hemisphere – and be one of the top 10 most polluting new fossil fuel projects in the world. It’s an absolute climate bomb and we can’t let it happen. We are seeing devastating climate impacts right now acrossAustralia. Marine heatwaves are bleaching Ningaloo reef in WA and causing toxic algal blooms off the south Australian coast, while record deadly floods hit New South Wales. This is a critical test for the Australian Labor on climate. Are they on the side of our planet and our kids’ future? Or do they just work for Woodside and their shareholder’s profits? We need all hands on deck – please contact Enviornment Minister Murray Watt and your federal Labor member urgently and tell them the North West Shelf extension cannot go ahead! We only have a few days! Help us stop Woodside!
