Amid the celebrations of World Pride, Mardi Gras, and rainbow flags everywhere – we need to acknowledge that NSW is still nowhere near as inclusive as it needs to be.
People marching this weekend still risk being fired from their jobs. And exemptions in the Discrimination Act still allow unequal treatment, including expulsion from schools and termination from work places, just for someone’s identity. That needs to change.
Today the NSW Greens announced that we will introduce legislation in the first 100 days of the new Parliament to repeal religious exceptions that allow religious bodies, small businesses, and private educational institutions to discriminate against LGBTIQA+ people.
But that’s not all. Our plan puts the major parties on notice that we won’t stop until we achieve every element of our plan for Rainbow Rights!
