Meet Sue Higginson, a Lismore Local and one of our Greens NSW Upper House MLCs 💪
Before getting stuck in to parliament, Sue dedicated her professional career as an environmental lawyer taking on mining giants and successive conservative governments for their harmful decisions— and she’s won.
When Rio Tinto wanted to build a massive open-cut coal mine in New South Wales’ Hunter Valley, Sue Higginson was there in the courtroom taking up the defence of nature. The project was rejected by the court.
Before she was a lawyer, she was an activist, working on the front lines to protect NSW’s native forests from the logging industry.
Today in parliament, she continues that same fight against the harm caused against our land and communities by fossil fuel companies and the governments in their pockets who enable them.
We are proud to have her in our movement. And we can’t wait to see our Upper House Candidates Amanda Cohn, Lynda-June Coe, and Jim Casey join her and Cate Faehrmann in the NSW Upper House this March.
