The Greens have a plan to Revive the Richmond River
Our rivers are suffering. The Greens are committed to working with communities to improve the health of waterways across the region. We must invest now before the cost of action gets any higher.
The Greens have a plan to Revive Richmond River. We will:
💧 Appoint a full-time Richmond River Commissioner to coordinate a whole of catchment response to the recovery of the river
💧 Fund a Richmond River Recovery Plan that will create local jobs across a variety of sectors
💧 End native forest logging in the catchment
💧 Establish a land acquisition revolving fund and voluntary covenant program
💧 Protect and enhance Aboriginal cultural heritage and facilitate direct involvement of Aboriginal communities in the management of the river.
💧 Fund a river-to-sea estuary management program including mangrove, saltmarsh, seaweed and seagrass regeneration programs.
💧 Fund the Landcare Coordination Program in line with Landcare NSW’s call for the NSW Government to commit to double the current funding for Landcare coordination.
