The Greens NSW

This election, voting 1 Greens in the NSW Upper House means we can elect Lynda-June Coe, Greens, a proud, sovereign Wiradjuri and Badu Island woman from Erambie, Cowra. Our Parliaments need more First Nations representation.

With the Greens, Lynda-June has led on our policy initiative calling for a community-led Truth-telling process, starting the process of negotiating treaties with nations, and securing dedicated seats for First Nations people.

As she says, “First Nations people are tired of being advisors. It’s time for the truth and power, signed and in writing through Treaty. It’s time to listen to First Nations people: if we want to save the earth, if we want to stop the inequalities harming communities, there’s a lot that needs to be learned from Indigenous knowledges and traditions.”

Lynda-June is a former secondary school teacher, and is currently a sessional academic at Macquarie University. She is a passionate Indigenous rights activist who has engaged in community-led activism for the past two decades, organising and supporting grassroots campaigns for First Nations and environmental justice.

Lynda-June has been on the streets advocating for Indigenous rights and the rights of the marginalised for most of her life. Now she’s taking that fight to Parliament. She’s seen first-hand the lack of action taken by our governments to tackle climate change, the housing crisis, and the ongoing systemic injustices faced by First Nations communities.

“We need to push for a just transition into renewable and sustainable energy by 2030 and to push for coal and gas to stay in the ground. Some of our most vulnerable wildlife habitats need our protection now more than ever. Native animals and plants are near extinction, and we must intervene. Today.” `

Lynda-June is not only fighting for First Nations justice but all people who are disenfranchised. She believes in the power of grassroots democracy, and will take the next government to task on the rights of country and community.
