This is Alex. He’s 16, and today he skipped school to strike for his future.
“I’m a high school student and today I’m skipping school to strike for climate – for my future, for the future of my entire generation, and for your future too – but the climate crisis isn’t a distant worry, it’s here now.
I challenge Liberal and Labor leaders to look victims of the devastating floods and young people in the eye while telling us they’re opening 100 NEW coal and gas mines. They’re robbing our future.
We, as school strikers, are standing up to tell leaders: it is impossible to take climate action while opening new coal and gas mines!
Fossil fuel corporations are making record profits and at the same time they are cooking our planet and flooding our communities… while refusing to pay tax or be held accountable for this crisis.
I’m too young to vote, but you can. We need as many voters as possible to know that only the Greens can be trusted to act on climate.”
