This was the biggest strike action of early educators ever taken in Australia.
There were over 1,000 childcare centres shut down across the country. Why?
Because early educators are at their last straw. After decades of inaction and increasing pressure during COVID, more and more early educators are calling it quits and looking for better-paid work, causing a huge staff shortage.
Despite this, early educators are still getting paid as low as $21.75 an hour.
When are we going to stop looking at early educators as “child-minders” and give them the pay, respect, and conditions they deserve?
