Meet Niels! He’s an educator, an environmentalist, an Exmouth local – and our candidate for North West Central in the by-election.
“I am passionate about social justice and care deeply about the environment. I’m a trained teacher and a geologist who calls Exmouth home. I’ve worked in conservation, education, and natural sciences across the state and the country, as well as running my own small business and community co-op.
As the rest of the world gets out of coal and gas our Government has doubled down on exploiting the Scarborough gas field, a carbon bomb equivalent to opening 15 new coal mines – right on the edge of our Ningaloo Reef.
Like so many people in the Exmouth community, I have experienced the steep rise in cost of living first hand. I have had to juggle multiple jobs just to be able to continue living in this beautiful part of the world we call home. I’ve seen the real world impacts of the climate crisis driving up the cost of insurance, while power bills skyrocket.
Tackling the climate crisis will tackle the cost of living. I can’t wait to get started.”
