This week we announced our plan to establish a National Energy Transition Authority in the next sitting of Parliament. We need to see the same effort here in WA to ensure our communities are taken care of.
Niels, our Greens candidate for the North West Central by-election, reckons:
“Oil and gas are finite resources and up here in the North West we all know the luck is going to run out one day. Our communities have seen this scenario play out over and over again.
Nearly every family up here is connected to the fossil fuel or resources industry. The cost of living in regional WA is so high that it’s almost impossible to look after yourself and your family without playing the mining and resources game. Investing in the transition to wind, solar, and green hydrogen means we can create thousands of jobs and give people already working up here a pathway to a job for the future, instead of one tied to resources we know are going to run out.
A just transition just makes sense.”
