Applications open for 2024 Australian Government Indigenous Apprenticeships Program
Applications are now open for the 2024 intake of the Indigenous Apprenticeships Program (IAP).
The IAP supports First Nations people to start a career in the Australian Public Service.
The 12 month program provides a permanent, full-time entry level job in government, opportunities for career progression, mentorship and study for a Certificate IV in Government.
Minister for Government Services, the Hon Mr Bill Shorten MP, said the program is a great way for First Nations people to start a career, with roles available across a number of departments, agencies and locations.
“The agency is excited to open applications for this year’s Indigenous Apprenticeships Program,” Minister Shorten said.
“Since 2015 the IAP has given more than 2,000 First Nations people the opportunity to grow, learn and move on to do great things throughout the agency and APS. This includes 1,500 apprentices who went on to join Services Australia.”
Services Australia delivers the IAP on behalf of more than 35 Australian Public Service agencies and departments.
Roles are available in areas including administration, policy and program development, service delivery, finance, human resources and information technology.
“Regardless of where apprentices are placed, they will play a crucial role in the workings of the Australian Government,” Minister Shorten said.
“First Nations people who choose to work at Services Australia will help everyday Australians right across Australia get on with their lives.
“Roles that could include serving customers, updating our website and IT systems, or ensuring things run smoothly behind the scenes.
“It is exciting to see these partnerships across so many wonderful agencies for the IAP, because we truly are stronger as one APS.”
Application close on 22 March 2024.
