Visit to the Republic of Korea for the Korea-Pacific Islands Summit
The Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Defence, the Hon Richard Marles MP, will visit the Republic of Korea to attend the inaugural Korea-Pacific Islands Summit on 29 May 2023, on behalf of the Prime Minister.
Representatives from the 18 members of the Pacific Islands Forum (PIF) have been invited to the summit in Seoul.
The Summit demonstrates shared commitment to stronger cooperation between Korea and the PIF to ensure a secure, peaceful and prosperous region.
During his visit, the Deputy Prime Minister will meet President Yoon Suk Yeol and his Defence counterpart, Korean Minister of National Defense Mr Lee Jong-sup.
Korea and Australia share a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership underpinned by our shared values and common strategic interests.
