Back to Cunderdin weekend a great success
Member for Central Wheatbelt Mia Davies joined residents of Cunderdin past and present to celebrate the 75th Anniversary of the Cunderdin District High School and the 50th Anniversary of the Cunderdin Museum over the weekend.
She congratulated everyone from the District High School, No. 3 Pump Station Museum, Shire of Cunderdin who had worked on making the event a success.
“It was wonderful to see how many people returned to the town to catch up with friends, family and colleagues over the weekend,” Ms Davies said.
“There was lots of sharing memories with old friends and a great opportunity for different generations to talk about their experience living or working in Cunderdin.”
She said the Museum was not only an important part of the State’s history as a former pump station for the goldfields pipeline but also a collection and record of the growth and progress of the community for future generations.
“It captures the stories of the pipeline, our agricultural and community history and even the building is a stunning example of architectural form and function,” she said.
“Councillors Alison and Todd Harris did a marvellous job of acknowledging the work of volunteers through the years, including those that were the driving force behind the Museum getting started.”
Ms Davies said so much work had gone into marking the occasion, from exhibitions of pertinent moments in Cunderdin’s history, photographic displays, tours of celebrated venues and youth activities.
“Appreciation also goes to the team at the Cunderdin District High School where a fantastic display of students and memorabilia throughout the 75 years was on display,” she said.
“A sincere congratulations to all involved, it was a moving and special weekend to celebrate this remarkable little town in Wheatbelt.”
