Therapeutic Services Enhanced for Young Violence Survivors
The Cook Labor Government is calling for organisations to deliver three new therapeutic services for children and young people impacted by family and domestic violence.
A tender process is now open, with the State Government committing $3.8 million over two years to deliver the services.
This support recognises that children and young people impacted by family and domestic violence have their own unique recovery and support needs.
These new supports form part of an $8.2 million package to deliver accessible therapeutic services to children and young people up to 24 years of age affected by family violence.
The new services include two Indigenous Healing Services for Aboriginal children and young people, and innovative programs which may include art and play therapy, one-to-one counselling, group sessions, outreach capability, cultural activities, advocacy and wraparound family support for caregivers.
This initiative delivers on a key ask of Western Australia’s 2023 Family and Domestic Violence Summit.

As stated by Prevention of Family and Domestic Violence Minister Jessica Stojkovski:
“In the past, children and young people have been thought of as only being witnesses to family violence.
“The reality is they themselves are victims – and need appropriate supports to help them recover from these traumatising situations.
“Exposure to family and domestic violence can have a devastating and lasting impact on children and young people. It can disrupt their cognitive development, wellbeing and schooling.
“These three new therapeutic services will ensure children and young people, as victim-survivors in their own right, have access to appropriate and tailored support.”
