Thousands Of New Homes Unlocked At Hamilton

The Crisafulli Government will transform Brisbane's Hamilton riverfront and deliver a place to call home for thousands of Queenslanders, with five parcels of land being released to market today.
Six hectares of riverfront real estate will be unlocked to deliver a thriving new precinct, including 3,000 homes as well mixed-use options, like restaurants, bars and retail.
The former site for Labor's unfunded Brisbane Athletes Village con job is among the collection of neighbouring properties being released for new housing, which will close another sorry chapter of Labor's 1,200 days of games chaos and crisis and help address Labor's Housing Crisis.
To unlock these homes and the broader precinct, the Crisafulli Government is investing over $100 million into critical infrastructure, including new roads and key services.
The area is part of the Northshore Hamilton Priority Development Area (PDA), which the Crisafulli Government has earmarked for fast-tracked urban renewal, bringing forward 10 years' worth of critical housing supply.
The land release comes just months after the Crisafulli Government removed layers of Labor red-tape which was stifling development in the Priority Development Area, making it fit-for-purpose.
Unlocking additional land supply is a key part of the Crisafulli Government's Securing Our Housing Foundations Plan to deliver one million new homes by 2044, to help fix Labor's Housing Crisis.
Deputy Premier and Minister for State Development, Infrastructure and Planning Jarrod Bleijie said this latest land release was another step forward in addressing Labor's Housing Crisis.
"Queensland is the perfect place to call home, yet the great Aussie dream of having somewhere you could call your own dwindled during Labor's decade of decline," Deputy Premier Bleijie said.
"A key way we can address Labor's Housing Crisis is to continue to increase land supply and housing choice, so more Queenslanders have a place to call home.
"With the Games now back on track after Labor's 1200 days of chaos, we're putting the land earmarked for its unfunded and forgotten Brisbane athletes village to good use - delivering thousands of more homes for Queenslanders.
"We're getting on with the job of delivering a Games and generational infrastructure for all Queenslanders, as well more places to call home.
"It's all part of our election commitment to refocus Economic Development Queensland to deliver homes in Priority Development Areas to increase housing supply.
"Queensland is now open for business and we are getting on with the job, cutting red tape, accelerating approvals and bringing development-ready land to market."
Member for Clayfield Tim Nicholls said the development would revitalise the area after years of neglect by Labor.
