Toowoomba Opens Recovery Hubs After Ex-TC Alfred
A number of Community Recovery Hubs are now available to assist Toowoomba Region residents who were impacted by severe weather associated with ex Tropical Cyclone Alfred.
The hubs have been announced as part of a number of initiatives to help residents get back on their feet including the Toowoomba Region’s activation to allow eligible residents to apply to the Queensland State Government for immediate financial assistance.
Toowoomba Region Mayor Geoff McDonald said the establishment of Community Recovery Hubs was an important part of the recovery process.
“These hubs will be important for residents and the community to help them get back on their feet following the impacts of ex TC Alfred. Some will operate on certain days and with limited hours so residents are asked to check the Queensland Government’s Disaster Recovery web site.
“The Community Recovery Hubs will help residents apply for immediate financial assistance through the State Government’s Disaster Relief arrangements and will also act as a referral service for residents should they need to access emotional wellbeing and other support,” Mayor McDonald said.
Hubs will be established at several Council and community facilities including:
– The Goods Shed (front of building),
– Highfields Cultural Centre,
– Crows Nest Community and RSL Centre,
– Goombungee TRC Service Centre,
– Perseverance Community Hall, and
– Oakey TRC Service Centre.
Further hubs may be announced as needs arise.
