UN Trafficking Expert to Visit Chad

GENEVA - The UN Special Rapporteur on trafficking in persons, especially women and children, Siobhán Mullally, will conduct an official visit to Chad from 16 to 26 February 2026.

During her visit, Mullally will examine the risks and prevalence of human trafficking in the context of humanitarian crises, climate-induced displacement and mixed migration movements. She will also assess the risks of child trafficking in relation to child recruitment, child labour and child marriage, and consider the gender dimension of trafficking for purposes of sexual exploitation and forced labour. She will analyse challenges that victims and survivors face in accessing effective remedies.

The expert will meet Government representatives, UN officials, law enforcement bodies, civil society organisations, human rights defenders, and survivors. She will visit N'Djamena, Koumra and Adre.

The Special Rapporteur will hold a press conference at 10:00 local time on Thursday 26 February at the United Nations Joint Office in Chad located in Klemat. Access will be strictly limited to journalists.

Mullally will present her report to the UN Human Rights Council 62nd session in June 2026.
