UN Watch Challenges Albanese Report Bias

– In a detailed legal analysis, UN Watch has exposed how Francesca Albanese’s newreport for the United Nations constitutes “one giant libel” against Israel, systematically criminalizing the Jewish state while completely ignoring Palestinian terrorism and rejectionism.

The Geneva-based human rights organization released a comprehensive critique of today’s new report by Albanese, which UN Watch says is designed to “isolate the State of Israel, cause it to be shunned by the international community, and bring about its demise” by labeling Israel a “genocidal machine” and calling for wide-ranging boycott, divestment, and sanctions which would curtail its ability to function in the international community.

The term “genocide” in different forms appears 57 times in the 38-page report, while the words “Hamas” and “terrorism” appear zero times.

UN Watch’s analysis identifies ten major deficiencies in Albanese’s report, including the omission of key facts, the criminalization of Israeli innovation, and blatant falsehoods about Israeli policies.

The report ignores the existence of ongoing armed conflict between Israel and Hamas and the current war, initiated by Hamas on October 7, 2023, which Hamas refuses to end by surrendering and returning all the hostages.

Furthermore, the critique highlights how Albanese’s report fails to acknowledge Hamas’s human shield strategy and Iran’s role in supplying weapons and training to terrorist groups.

UN Watch also notes how the report demonizes Israeli technological innovations, including life-saving military precision targeting systems and the Jerusalem Light Rail, which serves both Jewish and Arab communities equally.

The analysis reveals factual errors in Albanese’s claims about Israeli control of Palestinian resources, noting that Israel never imposed a “complete siege” on Gaza and has worked with the international community to ensure humanitarian aid delivery. UN Watch documents how Hamas’s own rocket attacks on October 7, 2023, destroyed nine of ten power lines from Israel to Gaza.

Even Norway’s government, typically critical of Israel, rejected many of Albanese’s demands for divestment, with the Finance Minister explaining the importance of basing decisions on “accurate facts” rather than unsubstantiated allegations.

UN Watch Executive Director Hillel Neuer:

“Francesca Albanese is the first UN expert in history to have been condemned by the United States, France, Germany, and Canada. With this new report, Albanese is escalating her crusade against the world’s only Jewish state, using the imprimatur of the United Nations.”

“Her report uses the word genocide 57 times but cannot bring itself to mention Hamas, terrorism, or the October 7th attacks even once,” said Neuer. “This tells you everything you need to know about her agenda – to demonize Israel while giving a free pass to the terrorists who started this war.”

UN Watch is urging all UN member states to reject Albanese’s report, and to support the U.S. government’s new call on the UN to remove her.
