University to Broaden Study Options on Central Coast 2026

People on the Central Coast and beyond will have even more choice when it comes to study options, with the University of Newcastle today announcing the second stage of programs to be offered in the region from next year.

The new offerings build on the first stage of programs revealed in May for the University’s new Mann Street site in Gosford and will add to the University’s more than 3,000 students who study on the Coast each year.

These programs are a combination of diplomas, undergraduate and postgraduate programs and include:

University of Newcastle Vice-Chancellor, Professor Alex Zelinsky AO, said the expanded list includes new programs offered at each of the University’s Central Coast locations, providing greater opportunity in critical areas.

“We’re excited that from next year we’ll be introducing new study options from each of our Central Coast sites, including a Diploma in Built Environment, a Graduate Certificate in Pharmacist Prescribing and Advanced Practice, and a Bachelor of Education (Early Childhood/Primary),” Professor Zelinsky said.

“The Central Coast is rapidly changing and the demand for study options is growing. We know it’s important for students to have strong job opportunities once they complete their study and that’s why we’ve prioritised programs that meet the region’s needs. Our ultimate goal is for more people to be able to study and find jobs without leaving the Coast.

“The revitalisation of the Gosford CBD and our Mann Street location is a really fitting example of how these new study options like the Diploma in Built Environment will directly benefit the region. We also know that the region needs more qualified early education teachers to work in a growing sector,” Professor Zelinsky said.

“We are committed to the Central Coast, and I look forward to seeing students enrol in these new programs for 2026.”

Mann Street building nearing completion

The four-storey Mann Street facility is on track for completion by the end of October, with students set to commence from Semester 1, 2026. Located at 305 Mann Street, just 450 metres from the Central Coast Clinical School and near Gosford train station.

The project is jointly funded by the University of Newcastle ($31.3 million), the Australian Government ($18 million), and the NSW Government ($18 million), with land provided by the Hunter and Central Coast Development Corporation.
