“A person standing in front of a 100-year-old tree demanding it be saved from logging could be slapped with a fine the price of a small car, or put behind bars.

This should send a chill up our spines.”

— Samantha Ratnam – Leader of the Victorian Greens

The Victorian Labor Government has introduced new major fines and even jail time for peaceful protesters trying to defend our native forests.

Earlier this year, Labor also changed the law to make illegal logging legal.

This government will sadly stop at nothing to keep logging Victoria’s forests, despite worsening climate and extinction crises.

We need more Greens in Parliament to hold the government to account and to protect our irreplaceable native forests.
