Brown Mountain Rally
In 2006, the Labor government promised to protect our few remaining old growth forests. But it was a hollow promise. Community protests stopped logging at Brown Mountain twenty years ago, but logging recommenced there in November 2008.
Key environment groups have revealed that 40% of the areas identified by the government for protection are not actually old growth forests at all, while areas of significant old growth remain on the list for logging and woodchipping.
