Coal is a leading cause of the climate crisis. Yet Victorian Labor and the Liberals want more coal.
To tackle climate change, Victoria needs a plan to replace coal with cheap, clean renewable energy.
That’s the plan we are launching today.
The Greens have a plan to tackle the climate crisis:
🔥 Stop burning polluting coal by 2030
☀️ Power Victoria with 100% renewable energy by 2030
👷🏽♀️Guarantee jobs for coal workers
Victoria has made some progress building renewable energy — but we are lagging behind other states. ACT & Tasmania are already at 100% renewable. South Australia is at 60% now with a target of 100% by 2030.
Our plan would also provide needed certainty to coal workers and the Latrobe Valley community. Without a plan to phase out coal and protect jobs, coal workers are at the mercy of corporate boardrooms and coal billionaires, who will abandon them when coal is no longer profitable. 💸
Greens will push the Victorian Government to go further on tackling the climate crisis, while protecting workers and creating a safe-climate future for all of us.
