Due to the nature of their work, firefighters have 5-10 times the risk of certain cancers and 2-3 times the lung cancer risk of a smoker.
But unlike other workers, it is almost impossible for them to access WorkCover compensation and insurance if they get sick from this exposure.
Firefighters put their health at risk to protect us so it is very important that we provide protection for them.
