Fix Shepherd Bridge – Bike West
http://vicmps.greens.org.au/bikewest
Bicycle infrastructure in the West is substandard and dangerous. Roads are also choked with trucks — more than 20,000 trucks drive through the inner West every single day. With the number of people cycling increasing fast, immediate action is needed to develop quality, safe and direct bicycle routes in the West.
It’s time to fix bike paths and make Bike West safe.

Shepherd Bridge is the main bike route connecting the Western Suburbs and the city. More than 1000 cyclists ride it every day, but it’s unsafe. Riders dodge pot-holes, light-poles and oncoming cyclists, all on a path that’s too small and too close to speeding trucks.
Other main cycle routes to the city such as St Kilda Rd, Albert St and Swanston St, have infrastructure that enhances safety and visibility, such as wide and coloured bike lanes, Copenhagen Lanes and vibralines.
Bike riders in the West deserve to be safe too!
