It’s a grim day for our irreplaceable native forests — and for our democracy and the right to protect peacefully.
The Victorian Labor Government wants to legislate harsh penalties against those who peacefully protest to defend our native forests against logging.
Environmental groups, lawyers and human rights experts have come out against this bill, and today unions are also called for it to be scrapped.
Victoria is the most cleared state in Australia — our native forests are being logged at an alarming rate and our plant and animal life is being pushed to the brink of extinction.
We urge the Opposition and the cross bench to strike down these draconian laws today.
