Protect our Firefighters TV Ad
This TV ad will roll out across the Victorian Premier’s electorate and marginal seats from 1st October 2013.
Every day, firefighters put their lives on the line to protect us.
Firefighters have 5-10 times the risk of certain cancers and 2-3 times the lung cancer risk of a smoker. That’s because they are exposed to a deadly cocktail of chemicals and smoke on the job. But here in Victoria, it is almost impossible for firefighters to access WorkCover or insurance unlike other workers.
ACT, Tasmanian and federally employed firefighters are now protected, and South Australia and Western Australia are fast progressing legislation. Yet here in Victoria the Napthine government is treating Victorian firefighters as second-rate and have taken no action.
Victorian firefighters deserve the same protections and that’s why The Greens introduced Fair Protection for Firefighters legislation.
It’s time Mr Napthine got on board and showed firefighters the respect they deserve. Let’s protect our firefighters now
