Ride From Hell: Cycling on Dynon Road, Footscray

Watch this shocking bike cam footage, taken by a local cyclist who rides along the dangerous Dynon Road obstacle course every day to get to work. There is a bike path on the city end of Dynon Road, but as you will witness, as you go towards Footscray the path very quickly disappears and bike riders are forced to traverse narrow, bumpy footpaths and huge trucks flying down the road only centimetres away, until they link up with the bike paths in the Footscray shopping precinct.

Fixing this missing link along Dynon Road is a huge priority for bike riders in Melbourne’s inner western suburbs. Currently, the only safe bike route from the western suburbs to the CBD is along Footscray Road, and as a result it is the most used and overcrowded bike route in metropolitan Melbourne.

Fixing Dynon Road’s dangerous and terrible quality path would create a safe and direct bike route from the Carlton hospital and university precinct and the northern edge of the city, to Footscray, West Footscray and beyond.
