Selling Victoria’s share in Snowy Hydro [Samantha Ratnam 29/03/18]
Samantha Ratnam MLC speaks on motion allowing for the sale of Victoria’s share in Snowy Hydro to the commonwealth. Greens do not oppose the motion, but raise concerns about giving the commonwealth 100% control over the hydro, setting the scene for privatisation. While the Victorian government has secured a commitment from the commonwealth that it will not sell the hydro, the commitment can’t necessarily be relied upon, particularly into the future.
