The Greens are excited to announce our bold plan to get 1 million Victorian homes off gas and for a gas-free Victoria!
The Greens’ plan will:
🏡 get 1 million homes off gas
🏡 provide households up to $6000 in rebates and zero-interest loans to replace polluting gas heating, hot water and cooking with new and efficient electric appliances.
Fossil gas isn’t just fuelling climate change, it’s also expensive and bad for our health. Research shows using gas in our homes causes up to 12% of childhood asthma. Last week, the Victorian Government announced new Victorian homes will no longer be forced to connect to gas, just weeks after the Greens brought a Bill to Parliament to do exactly this.
But there’s more to be done. With the Victorian state election coming up in November, the Greens are pushing the Victorian Government to go further in transitioning to all-electric homes, powered by 100% renewable energy.
Fixing our homes and making them all-electric by removing gas will save us money, help our health and make a big dent in Victoria’s emissions.
