The Greens have a plan for a pokies-free Victoria.
Since pokies were introduced in our state 30 years ago, Victorians have lost a staggering $66 billion at the pokies. It also costs us billions in mental health and other services each year.
For too long the major parties have received millions in donations and enjoyed cosy relationships with the gambling industry, while our communities have continued to suffer the brunt of gambling harm.
To protect Victorians from gambling harm, we must do something.
Our plan for a pokies-free Victoria includes:
💰 Harm minimisation measures like dollar bet limits
💸 A 65% tax on poker machines
✍️ A buy-back scheme for pokies licences
🚫 Political donations from the gambling industry banned
The Greens will always look out for people, over gambling profit.
