Victorian Greens

The Greens have a plan to make it easier for first time buyers to afford a home.

🏠 30% of homes in multi-unit developments should be set aside for first home buyers only, priced at 20% less than market rate.

First home buyers won’t have to compete with cashed-up investors for these homes, and they’ll be able to live where they want to live.

This kind of policy for affordable housing is common in other parts of Australia and the world – like South Australia and New York City.

But in Victoria, the state government regularly approves large developments with no requirements for any affordable housing at all.

Too many Victorians are locked out of owning a home of their own.

We need to make housing affordable. And this is how we can do it.
