Tim Read MP – Young people want action on climate change – First Speech pt 1.
The day I gave my first speech in Parliament was just 24 hours before the ten year anniversary of the Black Saturday bushfires. Giving my speech so close to this date was bittersweet.
10 years on, we remember those who lost their lives, fought the fires or had their lives changed forever on those fateful days. Rightly so.
But we have a duty not just to remember Black Saturday, but to do everything we can to prevent devastation like this happening again in the future.
This means we must also talk about climate change.
