Melina Bath – Sporting Club Grants program closing soon

The 2025 Sporting Club Grants Program is closing soon, with The Nationals’ Member for Eastern Victoria, Melina Bath encouraging local clubs to apply for this much-needed funding.

This year, a significant portion of the funding will focus on supporting the volunteers and officials who are essential to the success of community sport.

Grants of up to $5,000 are available for projects that enhance the skills and knowledge of volunteers, coaches, and officials, as well as initiatives aimed at improving volunteer retention.

Additional funding opportunities include:

  • Up to $4,000 to support clubs in delivering new programs to the community
  • Up to $1,000 for uniforms and equipment
  • $750 travel grants to assist clubs in attending competitions away from home

“Volunteers are the backbone of community sport across our region,” Ms Bath said.

“Without them, our grassroots sporting clubs would not be able to function.

“With increasingly busy lifestyles, supporting and retaining our treasured volunteers is more critical than ever.”

“I encourage local clubs to put forward initiatives that support their volunteers and members to help keep them engaged in grassroots sport.

“Clubs can also apply for funding to competition administration, athlete travel and uniform costs, which can add up significantly, particularly for clubs in regional areas.”

Previous recipients of these grants include the Inverloch Scout Group, Bass Coast Board Riders Club, Berwick Lightning Basketball Club, Churchill Baseball Club, Churchill United Soccer Club, Drouin Croquet Club, Gippsland Swimming, Golden Beach Surf Lifesaving Club, Inverloch Bowling Club, Korumburra Badminton Association, Latrobe Valley Abilities Sports, Moe Amateur Swimming Club, Phillip Island Golf Club, Phillip Island & District Cricket Club Inc. Toongabbie & District Pony Club and Warragul Football Netball Club.

Applications close on March 27.  For all information on eligibility and the application process, visit: Sporting Club Grants Program.
