The total commitment in funding for Labor’s Plan over the next five years is $2.23 billion, less than half the $5 billion the women’s safety sector says is needed to ensure no one is turned away from crisis accommodation.
It is unacceptable. Women are forced to choose between abuse or homelessness, because there is nowhere to go.
While the Labor Government continues to underfund frontline family, domestic, and sexual violence services, victim-survivors are turned away from crisis accommodation and one woman is murdered every 4 days in this country.
