Offshore Wind Farm Disinformation & the Atlas Network
In the last few decades, the Atlas Network and its affiliate organisations have been waging a global war of disinformation against the clean energy transition, with offshore wind being a particular target. With the recent rise of organisations like Advance, we have well and truly seen these dishonest campaigns reach Australia.
In this war, Atlas has employed dirty tactics such as astroturfing to spread lies about the dangers and harms of these necessary renewable technologies – all funded by their billionaire and fossil fuel industry backers.
It is vital we ask why Atlas and Advance have chosen to attack offshore wind and renewables and who – and who’s money – is behind these campaigns.
Combating disinformation in our politics and exposing right-wing, Liberal Party affiliated groups like Advance and Atlas must be a priority in the battle for our democracy.
